Under the leadership of County Commissioner Sandy Jacobs, Denton County, in conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is designing and constructing SH 121 freeway improvements in an effort to reduce driver delay and improve mobility in the region. Due to a creative use of financing, with funding for the engineering costs coming from a partnership between Denton County and the cities of Carrollton, The Colony, Grapevine, Lewisville and Coppell, this 17 miles of freeway will be built approximately 12 years ahead of the most aggressive schedule.

As one of the fastest growing counties in the United States, Denton County continues to experience roadway congestion. The SH 121 corridor has become one of the top economic engines in the state and traffic levels have become such that the main lanes of this freeway are needed now.

The design of the SH 121 freeway began in February of 2001 and is currently scheduled to be completed in October 2002. The project is broken down into four segments and each segment is available for you to view on this site.

West Segment: From Junction Business SH 121 to West of IH 35E
SH 121 / IH 35E Interchange: From West of IH 35E to East of IH 35E
Middle Segment: From East of IH 35E To Junction Business SH 121
East Segment: From Junction Business, SH 121 to Dallas North Tollway Intersection in Frisco\Plano
